It all began when Jillian discovered the website and youTube videos of My Froggy Stuff. She was captivated by the fun crafts for dolls and doll houses and so was Lucy. Before I knew it, the girls were raiding the recycling bins and craft supplies.
They are spending hours a day creating together. Yes! A project both the four year old and the eleven year old love!
We are going on the second week of this doll house crafts project. Most mornings the girls wake up and head straight to the craft table, Jillian's ipod at the ready so they can watch the video tutorials and plan out their crafts for the day.
They are so engrossed that some days I don't have the heart to ask them to stop, so they often craft from the time they wake up until the afternoon, which they switch the play to their bedroom doll house and try out their new creations. I have taken to bringing them a plate of apple slices, cheese, and crackers and setting it on the table, not wanting to break their crafty mojo for lunch.
Jillian has done most of the crafting, but Lucy is an eager cheerleader and has been responsible for gleaning most of the needed supplies from the recycling bins. Jillian will tell her what to look out for, Lucy does the supply recon, and then the girls sit at the table and create.
It is the sort of thing that makes this homeschooling mama feel really good about our life and thankful that they have the time and space to do things like this.
Here are some of their creations:
I love that they made art supplies! My favorites are the little composition notebooks and pencils, just like we use in our homeschool. Fun!
